It's a little after 8:30 a.m. here in Chicagoland, and as you can see, I am still in my fleece PJ's and fuzzy socks. I set a rule for myself when I switched to primarily working from home, that I would treat my morning routine as if I were headed to the office. I still wake up between 6:00 and 6:30 a.m., do my morning meditation and journaling, and get dressed and ready for the day.
But today, it's rainy and cold, and while I feel good and have good energy, I made the intentional decision to stay in my comfy cozy clothes as long as possible while I finish up a couple of projects before the Thanksgiving Holiday. It's funny, something so small, and something I could do most mornings, FEELS SO GOOD today- I feel like I am getting away with something devious!
And I think thats because we (I) don't often ask ourselves "what do I need most RIGHT NOW?" and we certainly don't honor what comes up very often. We spend our days giving our precious energy to other people and things, and we don't bring the love back in. And EVERYTHING gets short-changed in the process.
So entering into this pre-Holiday season, I am asking you: what ONE SMALL ACT OF RADICAL SELF-CARE will you show yourself, starting now, and entering into the New Year?
Maybe it's wearing your fuzzy socks inside your boots to work :). No matter the scale, the intentional act says "I love you; you matter" and THAT makes all the difference.
